Great Software March 7, 2008 This is a great product that was much easier to use than I expected. It took about five minutes to set up, then I just waited while it moved all of my program files over to my new Vista computer. It saved me a ton of work - I didn't want to have to burn cds or move everything with a flash drive - and it really didn't take too long to move everything over between computers. Everything was moved, even my Internet favorites, which I didn't expect. IntelliMover did everything I needed it to and then some, and for a comparatively low price. Also, it comes with a great support staff - before I purchased it, I called to make sure it would work with Vista and the staff was patient and not condescending at all. This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone.
Rats, Nuts, Phooey !! February 16, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Not being knowledgeable about computers, I was relieved to find software that promised to transfer everything, or at least that's what I thought. Of course, I found out that programs would not transfer. ("Applications?" This threw me.) But no box says what it "can't" do, does it?
I use a couple of niche programs that are no longer being made, and I have no discs for a new installation. And I don't want new Vista MS Office software. I like the old versions. And my old PhotoShop, too.
Still, I had a lot of small files: documents, PowerPoints, web pages and various photo formats, so a file transfer would be worth something. (I also apparently had a lot of "settings," which transferred, I think.)
I was transferring from XP(on Toshiba laptop) to Vista (on HP notebook), because the Toshiba was becoming unreliable.
Sure enough, my XP quit about a third of the way through, about 3 hours. I re-started from scratch, then later there was a power failure. Started again. The materials were useless on troubleshooting.
I did eventually accomplish the transfer, but for a know-nothing it was not easy. This product is, after all, marketed to the Idiot Consumer, so a few more Idiot-Proof instructions and FAQs would really have been helpful.
My thoughts:
1. XP to XP seems to work (judging by the reviews). If you have upgraded XP to Vista, it may be harder.
2. If you feel at all shaky in the computer department, beg someone else to read the instructions and help you. Cook them a nice dinner. With wine.
3. Or - consider taking your computers to a tech, (Best Buy will do), and have the transfer done. Bonus: there's a guarantee.
I'm screwed June 13, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm very fustrated by this product. I spent hours attempting to use it to transfe files to a new computer running Widows Vista unsuccesssfully! Reviews I read said this was possible but I must be a dummy because I couldn't get it to work. And after about an hour on hold I gave up trying to talk to tech support. Since I let this sit for more than 30 days I can't even get my money back.
Intellimover transfer your PC Deluxe software February 10, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Intellimover software worked great to transfer my data files and program setting from my old computer to my new desktop computer. I only ran into one problem for which I had to call tech support. The USB drive on my old computer had an old driver and wasn't compatible with the data transfer cable. Tech support told me how to update the driver and then the program worked as promised. It was well worth the money and made setting up my new computer so much easier.
Simply Didn't Work!! January 9, 2007 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
After many attempts and spending hours on the phone with the product reps. They suggested I just return it. I have a late model Dell PC. I hope it works on other computers. What a waste of time.
